I remember this show, because either this was the show where on the “newscast” they insulted Jerry Lewis, or they had the fake apology where they insulted him further. I will look at the transcript for the news — but it would have to be the 90 minute edition, unedited to see it. edited: There is no transcript for the news bit. This would be that show. In it they showed a fake photo of “Jerry” in his tuxedo in Wheelchair, with leg braces, and also a cartoon of him crying (using his logo/caricature as a basis). Jerry was angry, and complained about it on his next telethon; then people wrote in to SNL to complain; then we saw Mary Gross doing the fake apology, where she insulted Jerry more. That would be in the early September 1982 episode. Later Jerry guest hosted — but I didn’t see an apology, really. And who was it that dressed up as Jerry for that wheelchair photo?
